Question:
I am looking for a short poem (4-5 lines or so) about a firefly. I think it was written by Jack Kent, or maybe Jack Kemp... I read it once inside of a Library Science Textbook (I don't recall the title); it was used as an introduction to a chapter.
Answer:
Greetings from IPL2,
I understand you are looking for a poem about a firefly and you do not know the author or the title for certain.
The poem is called “The Firefly” and was written by Jack Kent. It was used in the opening of Chapter 3 of the Library Science textbook Reference and information services in the 21st century: An introduction, second edition revised, by Cassell and Hiremath. You can read the poem in the sources I have provided below.

This is a blog by a student in a Library Science program. While blogs are not authoritative, this provides the poem and has been verified by another source.

Tumblr is another blogging site and as such, should not be considered authoritative on its own. However, it provides the poem as well as the citation for the book in which it is found.
In order to find these sources, I searched using the following:
http://www.google.com
The search terms I used were: "Jack Kent" "The Firefly". The first and third search results will give you the poem you seek.
