ipl2 Internship

From January 2013 to May 2013, I worked as a Digital Reference Service Intern in an internship with the ipl2 online digital library.  During that time, I processed incoming questions from patrons from around the world and mentored Information and Library Science students in their reference work as part of their training.

I completed a special project as part of my internship, a video to be distributed to educators.  It showcases the ipl2 as a valuable tool for teachers and students alike.

This internship was a valuable experience for me.  I was able to see the behind-the-scenes workings of the digital library and learned how the questions get from the patrons to the students.  Mentoring students was a great way to hone my reference skills (the best way to learn is by teaching!)  The video was also a fun experience as I learned new ways to use graphic animations in a video and it helped me learn more about the target audience.
